Clayton Buchanan began his career in construction when he was just 15 years old, working in lumber yards and on jobsites as a carpenter. 35 years later, as the President and General Contractor of Buchanan Builders, he has built hundreds of quality custom homes, commercial projects and a legacy as our community's premier custom home and commercial builder.

The Beginning
Clayton Buchanan began his career in construction when he was just 15 years old, working in his father's lumber yard and on jobsites as a carpenter in Augusta, Georgia. He grew up spending summers and long weekends in Fernandina Beach and helped build the family beach house on South Fletcher. After graduating from the University of Georgia he decided to make Fernandina Beach his permanent home in 1983 and began working to secure his General Contractors License. Shortly after launching his career in construction, he met his now wife of 31 years and started a family. His three children were born and raised in Fernandina Beach and grew up in many Buchanan Builders original homes, making memories that would last a lifetime. These are the homes that Buchanan Builders aims to build for your family, safe and beautiful spaces where time with family means everything and all of life's special moments can be celebrated together.
